ImageTree ("we", "this site") explains below what data is and isn't collected when you use this site, which third-party services it may use, and how you can control them.
Your files never leave your browser
Every image tool on this site (WebP conversion, resizing, compression, format conversion) runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and Web Workers. The images and files you process are never uploaded to any server. This is unrelated to your cookie choice below — it's true whether you accept or decline.
What this site itself collects
This site has no accounts, sign-up forms, or comment features, and we do not ask you for personal information. The image tools run in your browser, so your files, file names, and results are not transmitted to us. Like most web servers, the server that delivers this site may keep standard access logs (such as IP address, date and time, requested page, and browser type) for security and troubleshooting, and keeps them only as long as needed for those purposes. Any other data collection comes from the third-party services described below.
Cookies and similar technologies
Aside from your files, this site uses a small number of third-party services for traffic analytics, advertising, and error tracking. StatCounter, Microsoft Clarity, and error tracking (Sentry) do not load at all until you accept the cookie banner. Google's tags (Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense) are the exception: they load in a restricted mode before you choose. In that mode they are told you have not consented, so they do not store analytics or advertising cookies and any ads are not personalized, although Google may still receive limited, cookie-free signals such as the page address, browser type, and approximate location. Accepting switches them to full operation; if you decline, they stay restricted. Every tool keeps working normally either way.
What this site stores in your browser
Separately from third-party services, this site stores a few small items in your browser so it works the way you expect. They stay on your device and are not sent to us: your language choice (when you use the language switch), your light/dark theme choice (when you toggle it), your cookie choice (only on pages that show the cookie banner), and a cache of the site's own files so it loads faster and can open offline. These items exist only to run the site, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
StatCounter (analytics)
If configured, StatCounter counts visits and page views. See StatCounter's own privacy policy for what it collects and how long it's kept: statcounter.com/about/legal
Google Analytics 4 (analytics)
When enabled, GA4 collects usage statistics such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and basic events such as which tool you used (never file names or contents), to help us understand how the site is used. See Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Microsoft Clarity (session analytics)
When enabled, Microsoft Clarity may record how you interact with pages (clicks, scrolling, page navigation) and produce heatmaps and session recordings to help us find usability issues. What appears in recordings is subject to the masking settings configured in the Clarity dashboard. See Microsoft's privacy statement: privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
Google AdSense (advertising)
When enabled, Google AdSense may show ads and use cookies to personalize them based on your visits to this and other sites. On pages that show the cookie banner, personalized ads are used only if you accept advertising cookies. You can opt out of personalized ads at Google's Ads Settings: adssettings.google.com. To see how Google uses data from sites that use its services, visit policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Sentry (error tracking)
When enabled, Sentry receives technical details when something goes wrong on a page, such as the error message, a stack trace, and the browser and device type, to help us fix bugs. We do not intentionally send file names or contents. See Sentry's privacy policy: sentry.io/privacy
Your choice, and changing it later
The cookie banner appears the first time you visit these English pages (/en), for every visitor regardless of location. Your choice is stored in your browser (not sent anywhere) so you aren't asked again. You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. The Korean version of this site (/ko) handles this differently and is described in its own policy page.
Legal bases, retention, and international transfers
Where the law requires consent (for example for analytics and advertising cookies in the EU/EEA and the UK), we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time as described above. Otherwise, the processing done by these services is based on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site and keeping it free to use through advertising. How long each service keeps data is decided by that service and its settings; this site does not control it. These providers operate in other countries, including the United States, so data may be transferred to and processed outside your country, under the safeguards described in each provider's own policy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data about you, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict its use, to object to processing, to receive a copy, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority (for example under the GDPR in the EU/EEA and the UK, the CCPA/CPRA in California, and the Personal Information Protection Act in Korea). Because we do not hold accounts or files from you, most of the data in question sits with the third-party services above; their privacy policies explain how to exercise these rights with them directly. You can also contact us using the details below, and we will help where we can. Advertising and analytics services may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some laws such as the CCPA/CPRA; you can limit this with the choices above and with Google's Ads Settings.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If a change affects what we ask your consent for, we will ask again where the law requires it.
