🗜️ Image Compressor
Drag images in or select them — they're re-encoded at a smaller size instantly in your browser.
Reduce file size by lowering image quality. Drag the quality slider to balance size against visual quality and see the resulting file size update as you go.
Frequently asked questions
What quality setting should I use?
For web and social use, 70–85% usually cuts file size a lot with no visible difference. For print or images people will zoom into, 90% or higher is safer. Try the slider and compare the resulting file size directly.
Does compressing change the image dimensions?
No, compression only reduces quality/file size, not width and height. Use the Image Resize tool if you also want to change the dimensions.
Can I compress an already-compressed file again?
You can, but recompressing a file that was already lossy-compressed can sometimes make it bigger instead of smaller (this tool shows that increase next to the result). Where possible, compress once from the original.
